Eleven Long Island beaches were sealed to swimming Saturday due to concerns about germ levels.
Nassau County health officials systematic 10 North Shore beaches and one South Shore beach sealed after officials cited a complicated rains that beget stormwater runoff, that can brush germ and pathogens into internal streams and bays, causing levels to spike.
The North Shore beaches are Centre Island Sound, Creek Club, Lattingtown Beach, Laurel Hollow Beach, Piping Rock Beach Club, Pryibil Beach, Ransom Beach, Theodore Roosevelt Beach, Soundside Beach and Stehli Beach. Also, Biltmore Beach Club in Massapequa remained sealed from progressing towering bacterial levels, officials said.
Field 6 during West Beach and Field 8 during Overlook Beach, both during Heckscher State Park in East Islip, reopened to swimming Saturday after carrying been sealed due to unsuitable H2O quality, a state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said. Field 6 during West Beach had been sealed given Thursday.
