13 Long Island Beaches Closed Due to Bacteria Concerns

Health officials have sealed 13 Long Island beaches to swimming since of concerns about germ levels.

Newsday reports that Nassau County health officials systematic 10 North Shore beaches and one on a South Shore sealed Saturday.

Officials cited a complicated rains that beget stormwater runoff. The charge runoff can brush germ and pathogens into internal streams and bays, causing bacterial levels to spike.

In Suffolk County, dual beaches during Heckscher State Park in East Islip are also sealed to swimming since of unsuitable H2O quality.
