America’s Ancient Forests: Falling for Political Games and Profit
By Angela Ramath
Timber! Our Forests Are Falling Faster Than Political Promises
Imagine a 500-year-old tree, standing tall and proud. Now picture a politician with a
chainsaw, grinning as he takes it down. That’s the sad reality, folks.
Our ancient forests, nature’s cathedrals, are being reduced to firewood in the name of political “progress” and profit.
And let’s be honest: “progress” here is as empty as the space where these trees
once stood.
When Did We Start Caring More About Profit Than Our Planet?
It’s no secret—politicians love a good photo op.
Hugging a tree? Perfect for the cameras.
But when the lobbyists—let’s call them profit-driven puppet masters—come knocking with fat checks and promises of economic growth, that tree-hugging turns into tree-chopping.
Apparently, saving the environment doesn’t pay as well as destroying it.
Who knew?
Climate Change? Never Heard of It
In the middle of a climate crisis, you’d think we’d hold on to every last old-growth
forest like a winning lottery ticket. These trees are our best defense against a
warming planet, soaking up carbon like a sponge.
But no—our leaders seem to think it’s better to chop them down, releasing all that stored carbon back into the atmosphere.
It’s like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.
But hey, at least someone’s making a quick buck.
Both Parties Are Equally Good at Doing Nothing
Let’s not kid ourselves—this isn’t a one-party issue.
Democrats and Republicans alike have mastered the art of looking the other way when it comes to environmental destruction. They talk a big game about “legacy” and “heritage.”
But when it’s time to act, they’re too busy counting campaign donations to notice the trees falling around
them.
If hypocrisy were an Olympic sport, Congress would sweep the medals.
We’re Running Out of Time—and Trees
So what’s the plan here? Wait until the last tree falls and then hold a press conference?
We need real action, not just empty words. It’s time for our leaders to stop pandering to industry and start protecting what’s left of our natural world.
If they can’t see the forest for the trees, maybe it’s time we show them the door.
Will These Forests Outlive Our Leaders’ Empty Promises?
These ancient forests have stood for centuries, surviving storms, fires, and time
itself. But can they survive our leaders’ empty promises and bad decisions?
If we don’t act soon, the only thing left will be the bitter irony of what we allowed to
happen.
The choice is ours. Do we protect these natural wonders, or do we let them fall, just
like the politicians who failed them?
