AT&T to compensate $105 million to settle charges it ‘crammed’ phone bills


WASHINGTON (Reuters) – ATT Inc (T.N) will compensate $105 million to settle allegations that it put unapproved charges on customers’ dungeon phone bills, a use famous as cramming, sovereign regulators pronounced on Wednesday.

The allotment comes after years of complaints from dungeon phone owners about being charged for services like daily horoscopes or trivia that they never requested. It was negotiated by a Federal Trade Commission, a Federal Communications Commission and all state attorneys general.

ATT will compensate $80 million to reinstate business while $20 million is earmarked for penalties and fees to all 50 U.S. states and Washington, pronounced a FTC. The FCC also fined a association $5 million.

The FTC purported that for companies whose billing was rubbed by ATT, as many as 40 percent of subscribers complained about a charges.
