FLINT, MI – About 300 workers for Automotive Component Carriers will confirm if they wish to give their UAW care a ability to strike, a pierce that comes dual weeks after a notice about 71 approaching layoffs.
The strike authorisation votes will take place Thursday, Nov. 19, in a Flint, Lansing, Saginaw and Fort Wayne, Ind., terminals, according to Steve Gruener, clamp boss of United Auto Workers Local 659 in Flint, that represents a workers.
The vote comes after a company, owned by Penske Logistics, pronounced it designed to lay off 71 drivers since one of a contracts with General Motors was not renewed.
Gruener pronounced a strike authorisation opinion is not associated to a layoff notice filed with a state, antiquated Nov. 6.
“This is particularly contractual,” he said. “The dual sides are a ways apart. Once again it seems as yet ACC’s government isn’t peaceful to bargain.”
The workers are now underneath a 60-day extended agreement and are negotiate about work load, salary and other issues, Gruener said.
The voting is approaching to be finish today.
A strike authorisation opinion does not indispensably meant there will be a strike.
If a membership approves a strike authorization, afterwards it gives kinship care a management to strike.

Penske officials pronounced Local 659 due operative underneath a stream agreement for 60-days on Wednesday, Nov. 18, according to a statement.
