NASA announced Iowan Peggy Whitson, of Beaconsfield, has been reserved to a six-month goal on a International Space Station subsequent year.

Whitson, a moody engineer, will fly on Expedition 50 with several others, that is designed to launch in late 2016.

The Iowa local has been in space twice before, once in 2002 for scarcely 185 days and again in 2007 for 192 days.

According to NASA, Whitson perceived a bachelor of scholarship grade in biology/chemistry from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1981 and a doctorate in biochemistry from Rice University in 1985.
