Most Long Island beaches reopen

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Health officials contend many of Long Island’s beaches have reopened to swimming a day after they were sealed due to concerns about germ levels.

In Nassau County, all beaches solely for Biltmore Beach in Massapequa reopened Sunday.

The health dialect on Saturday had systematic 10 North Shore beaches and one on a South Shore closed.

Officials cited a complicated rains that beget stormwater runoff. The charge runoff can brush germ and pathogens into internal streams and bays, causing bacterial levels to spike.
