One of a largest glaciers in Greenland is melting.
Researchers from a University of California, Irvine (UCI) and a University of Kansas (KU) have dynamic that one of Greenland’s largest ice sheets, a Zachariae Isstrom glacier, is shedding ice during a rate of 5 billion tons per year. The glacier contains adequate to lift tellurian sea levels by eighteen inches. The commentary are published in a stream issue of Science.
The scientists used high-resolution bed topography and mapping to request changes in a glacier over a duration of approximately 40 years. Using this technology, they dynamic that a glacier began melting many faster starting in a year 2000, and accelerating by 25 percent in 2012.
The scientists charge those changes to warming temperatures.
