Think Samsung, and you might think “phones”, “tablets”, or “SSDs”.
Above and below you’ll see the ATIV Book 9 Pro. Given the portable nature of the Spin, Samsung has built an outdoor mode into the screen, increasing the brightness to 700nit while in the Sunday. However the ATIV Book 9 Pro will be slightly faster with its Intel Core i7 6700HQ, while the Spin model will use the 6500U model, but chances are the differences might not be noticeable if you aren’t really a power user. The trade up is an increase in battery life to 7 hours, and a lightweight 2.7lbs.
“But the ATIV Book 9 Pro isn’t just your garden variety 15.6-inch notebook; it comes equipped with a rich 4K touch screen (3840×2160) with a 500nit brightness rating and “real time HDR enhancements” which are meant to “[enable] clearer, crisper images and text”. It looks to be one of the best displays they’ve put on their laptops. The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Spin works with a 13.3-inch display with QHD+ resolution (that’s 3200 x 1800), touchscreen, and the ability to fold back over itself 360-degrees to achieve several display modes. The company makes notebook PCs, too, and its Ativ Book 9 Pro and Spin seem like sleek, stylish takes on Skylake laptops. Connectivity is enhanced with a 4K compatible HMDI out. Sound will be powerfully delivered through four speakers. The ATIV Book 9 Pro comes in at 4.45lbs. Furthermore, the Pro offering in the Ativ Book 9 line-up can deliver up to 6.5 hours of battery life. Now, the even newer, more powerful ATIV Book 9 Pro notebook features a few truly supercharged, cutting edge specs across the board and they’re all packaged into one ultra-thin, extremely light chassis. Samsung is also introducing a second laptop today, the ATIV Book 9 Spin, which holds true to its name, with a display that rotates 360 degrees.
Both the ATIV Book 9 Pro and ATIV Book 9 Spin will be available later this month from Samsung.com and Best Buy priced at $1,599 and $1,399 respectively.
