San Francisco 49ers using behind Reggie Bush has a stretched calf, yet a flesh is not torn, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Bush, who left a team’s season-opening 20-3 feat over a Minnesota Vikings on Monday night with a damage after only dual carries, was walking around Tuesday yet a limp, according to manager Jim Tomsula.
“He looked good,” Tomsula pronounced of Bush, who was carted from a sideline to a locker room. “I mean, he’s not using yet, yet he looks excellent and they’re treating him and he’s going to get all checked.”
So if all checks out, competence Bush, who had dual rushes for 8 yards opposite a Vikings, play on a brief week during a Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday?
“I don’t know that,” Tomsula pronounced Tuesday, “but we will give we that answer as shortly as we have it. Again, we don’t wish something that can be taken caring of [treated and healed] in 4 days to finish adult being 6 weeks. So we do wish to stay on that approach.
“I mean, if he can play, he’s going to play.”
Bush was one of a Niners’ tip free-agent pickups this offseason, signing a reported one-year understanding value as most as $2.5 million, yet he does have a story of injuries. With the Detroit Lions last season, an ankle damage suffered in Week 5 singular him to only 11 games as he finished with 297 yards rushing and dual touchdowns on 76 carries with 40 receptions for 253 yards.
He was used sparingly this preseason, carrying a round once for a 21-yard pickup and returning one punt for 4 yards.
